Another Hogweed copper plate etching (See ‘Hogweed II’ here)!
A distant relative (who I never met) was an artist, and as a child I was mesmerised by her hand-drawn cards. Her ‘signature’ was a hogweed stem, it was good fun finding them, and I was quite awe struck by the image.
This time, I decided to try and reach that gentle gradient goal of tonal perfecrtion by using ‘feathered’ etched lines. It creates an interesting effect, but it wasn’t what I had planned. Copper plate and an etching needle are very different to paper and a pencil!
Again I’m not un-happy with it, it’s just different to the vision in my head, and different is good!
I do like the proportions of this one.
Will keep trying!
