I liked this tree – the shape is really pleasing. Don’t trees have character! Sometimes some of them just ‘speak to you’!
The tone of the clouds in the background of this plate are noticable without being distracting, hurrah! This plate came after Windswept Oak. I’m not sure the laborious stop out/ aquatint method is the most efficient I could have chosen! Had time allowed, I may have tried a spit bite. A technique to try out next.
I tried hard to darken the road in the foreground, though my etching incriments were too small at first. A 45 second etch after several 15 second ones did the trick. Though I now think that the print could take even more depth…
Reminder to self to be cautious with wiping the plate in this area!
