Wee Honesty

Wee honesty

Wee honesty – a copper plate etching, with aquatint.

Smaller than its big cousin, “Honesty”, it still represents the shadowy forms of the seedheads in the afternoon sun.

Aquatint is applied in a booth, for the health of the airways. Even in a non-toxic print studio, breathing in particles of anything, toxic or not, isn’t good!

The aquatint is applied in varying waves to achieve different tones. Some areas are ‘stopped out’ or masked to avoid any aquatint, and to keep them ‘clean’ when etching. This means they will be clear when printed (i.e. white on white paper).

It is a tricky business!
